Repetitive Strain Injury
Repetitive Strain Injury (or RSI) is a condition caused by repeated over use and injury to the muscles in the hands, wrists, arms and shoulders. A good example of this movement would be a typist or a musician, however there are many other ways RSI can be caused.
Am I entitled to claim?
RSI claims are becoming ever more common due to the very repetitive tasks in the modern working environment, however, depending on the type of RSI compensation can be quite difficult to pursue. The most common forms of RSI are Tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel system and Vibration White Finger.
Symptoms of RSI, at first, may only affect you when you are carrying out a particular repetitive task and once you stop the task the symptoms will improve. If left untreated these symptoms are liable to get worse and cause much longer periods of pain and possible swelling. The symptoms, if left long enough, may even become untreatable and cause long-term problems. Some of the symtoms include (but are not limited to) the following.
- Pains or tenderness in your muscles or joints
- Stiffness
- Throbbing
- Tingling or numbness
- Weakness
- Cramp
If you have any of these symptoms you should seek advice from a GP as soon as possible. If you have a form of RSI and it is directly related to your working conditions, or an accident you have been involved in, then you could be entitled to compensation. Our claims advisors will be able to tell you if we can pursue a claim for you or not.
